Day One, Again

I've been inspired by Blogilates, aka Cassey Ho's 90 day journey, and I wanted to start my own. Basically if you like reading about how fat/skinny or skinny/fat people journey to become skinny/skinny then keep reading. Also if you like cat memes/gifs...this weight loss/maintenance journey will be full of cat memes and gifs.

Basically I stepped on the scale today and weighed 143.8 lbs. I am about 5 ft 8.5 inches tall so technically this is a healthy weight for me, it is just worrisome since it has gone up pretty consistently during the summer. Slowly but surely creeping up. I was 138 in August/September and honestly I would be happiest maintaining in the 139-141 range long term.
Let's backtrack though. I am a first year medical resident, so duh, stressful life, long hours, low sleep, switching days to nights and back again, so no shit my weights gone up. But I can't let it keep creeping like this for 3 long years! Which is why I have to face it now.

There is some interesting research out there about how weighing yourself daily works as biofeedback to help regulate weight and prevent the weight creep over time. I think the worst part about this is the scale fear you have when you go a little while without weighing yourself, because then you see a "number jump" rather than the predictable weight ebbs and flows. So that leads me to my goals:

1.) NO SCALE FEAR--step on that sucker every morning, even *gasp* if you don't have a nice BM before.
2.) Record the number in the journal and share on the blog
3.) Exercise! Aim for .5 hrs of cardio on work days and 1 hour nonwork days, try to add up to 10,000 steps every day!
4.) Say NOOOO to crap food that gets pushed onto you by coworkers, friends and diet sabotagers.

And if anyone wants to join, then feel free!
